proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.”

this is something i wrote in mid august 2024.

these past days i have realised that sometimes we are like a toddler throwing tantrums when things don't go our way but God is an understanding father. God knows why he won't give us the toy we, the toddler, desperately want. God wants to buy us something bigger and better. but in the moment we, as small children, only can see what’s ahead of us and not that God is leading us to a better toy store with things that would make us happier.

we can't let go of God's hand as we will get lost, we are only toddlers. We should follow God's guidance and soon enough we will be at the toy store and be gifted with something that will make us much happier and we realise that getting the first toy wouldn't have made us as fulfilled as we are now.

this is just a tiny analogy i came up with after these past few days. God is leading us to a better store, with things that will make us happy for days. as a toddler the journey seems so long due to how small we are and how tiny the steps we take are. But God is right beside us guiding us along to way.

if we truly can't walk anymore God will pick us up and carry us for a portion of the way until we get back on our feet. God wants us to grow and become independent but also wants us to rely on him. God is our Father and wants the best for us. He is always doing things to prosper us and has plans to bring wonders into our lives.

what we want may not make us happy. God knows us better than we know ourselves. God knew us before we were born into this world. God knows what he has written in our story. it's difficult to trust and have faith in God at first when we’re so used to being in control of everything.

it's devastating when things don't go as you have planned to the finest detail. But it's all in God's plan, God understands it's hard to trust him sometimes but his hand is always there to grab upon. God will never turn his back on us. He loves us so much.

1 john 2:16-17

“Everything that belongs to the world—what the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are so proud of—none of this comes from the Father; it all comes from the world. 17The world and everything in it that people desire is passing away; but those who do the will of God live forever.”

"Nourish your mind and everything else will follow."

When living in the world we only focus on ourselves, the physical reality. Everything stems from how we can better ourselves. Everything relates to me, me, me.

We base our identities on things we have achieved physically; we only focus on the tangible. When we identify in the world, we do not focus on what can nourish and nurture our spiritual life; instead, we take pride in worldly accomplishments.

Many of these desires are placed on our hearts through social media and are not from the Lord.

This doesn’t mean that God doesn’t want us to improve ourselves—it is far from that. God wants us to enjoy our time on earth. God has plans to prosper us not to harm us.

There is no reward in suffering.

However, God doesn’t want us to idolise the things of this world, to put our faith on a backburner, or to ignore our spiritual connection to Him.

We have to ensure we are doing the will of God. We can ask ourselves if our goals can benefit others, such as giving to the needy.

God wants us to do things that will please him.

The focus should be caring for the mind and soul. Taking care of the soul means we equip ourselves with the word of God. Caring for the mind is watching what we feed it.

Remember that the body and physical pass away but the soul is taken up when our time comes.

When you nourish your spiritual health everything else follows. By nourishing your spirit you begin watching what goes into your body. By nourishing your spirit you also have the desire to change your environment.

Everything begins internally.

This verse is God telling us to centre Him and everything else will follow.

God will give us wisdom on how to fulfil our desires all we have to do is ask Him.

The physical passes but the will of God lives forever.

I had this revelation as I journaled today. Even though my main focus is to improve myself, I believe God wanted to make it clear to me that I shouldn’t become distracted and forget about Him.

I also believe that God was telling me that even when everything happens I need to return to Him. I can’t do it alone, and neither can you, let God take control.

Ask God for His wisdom. Ask God for discernment. Ask God for anything and He will bless you with it.
